An in-vitro study of twenty over-the-counter toothpastes found microplastics present in all twenty samples, identifying polyamides, polyethylene, and polypropylene. Deodorant: The Highest-Leverage, Lowest-Cost Swap in This Room

Deodorant is applied daily, often multiple times a day, directly onto skin adjacent to lymph nodes, one of the body's primary drainage and immune systems. Conventional antiperspirant relies on aluminum compounds to physically block sweat glands, which is the entire mechanism of action: preventing the body from doing something it is designed to do. A PVC shower curtain is one of the more significant and least discussed sources of indoor off-gassing in the home. PVC, polyvinyl chloride, releases volatile organic compounds, including phthalates, into warm humid air every time the shower runs.
